# iCloud Contacts, for your agent > Let Muse, Claude or ChatGPT look up your iCloud Contacts and, when you allow it, add and update them. One app-specific password, about five minutes to set up. muse.space wrote this guide, and "we" in it means muse.space. muse.space is an independent project. Your agent finds a number, an address or a birthday when it needs one, and adds or updates a contact once you let it. The app-specific password that opens your mail opens your contacts too. Read tools are on from the start; write tools wait for your switch. ### Contacts tools - `contacts.search` (read): **Search contacts.** Search contacts by part of a name, email address, phone number or organization, and return each match’s addresses and numbers. - `contacts.read` (read): **Read a contact.** Read one contact in full: names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, organization, birthday, links and notes. - `contacts.list_address_books` (read): **List address books.** List the address books of this account, with the id other contacts tools take and whether each can be written to. - `contacts.create` (write): **Create a contact.** Create a contact in an address book from the names, addresses and numbers given. - `contacts.update` (write): **Change a contact.** Change fields of a contact, keeping every field not named and everything else it holds, such as its photo; it fails if the contact changed since it was read. ## Three steps, about five minutes ### 1. Make an app-specific password Sign in at [account.apple.com](https://account.apple.com/) and choose **Sign-In and Security**, then **App-Specific Passwords**. Name it `muse.space` and copy the 16 letters Apple shows you. [Open account.apple.com](https://account.apple.com) ### 2. Add it to muse.space [Create an account](https://muse.space/signup) and paste the password. Your browser encrypts it before it is sent, and we check it with Apple. The one password opens Mail, Calendar and Contacts. ### 3. Connect your agent Each agent has a short guide of its own. Sign in once, and it can search your iCloud Mail, check your calendar and find contacts, without the password. ## Fair things to ask first ### Can my agent delete a contact? No. No tool deletes a contact. Once you turn writing on, your agent can add contacts and update the ones already there. ### Do you keep my contacts? No. A contact passes through our servers in memory for the length of the call, and is never saved or logged. ### I already connected iCloud Mail. Do I need another password? No. Open iCloud Mail in your dashboard: under **Also on this password**, connect iCloud Contacts in one click. It starts read only, like everything else. ### Is this allowed by Apple? Yes. App-specific passwords are Apple’s supported way for other mail apps to sign in. Ours shows up in your Apple Account like any other, and you can cancel it there at any time without asking us. ### What does it cost? Nothing for up to 3 connectors, and a password counts once, so iCloud Mail, Calendar and Contacts are one. Personal, for everything more, is $5 a month or $48 a year.
